Offshore Challenge of America swimsuit - red/navy
Product information "Offshore Challenge of America swimsuit - red/navy"
The outer material is made of the tried and tested nylon Oxford, which is coated and welded. A layer of closed-cell vinyl foam, as used in life jackets, is built in for thermal insulation and as a built-in life jacket. The buoyancy keeps any adult person above water.
The suit is lined and offers additional protection to the parts of the body that are sensitive to the cold. Namely the pituitary glands: at the lower part of the back of the head, thanks to the high, fleece-lined collar and at the pulse area thanks to the neoprene cuffs. These can be individually adjusted using Velcro fasteners. In addition, the hands are warmed in the fleece-lined pockets.
There are also adjustable suspenders that optimise the fit of the suit. The suit can be tightened at the elbows and knees using straps so that if you fall overboard, no water circulates and no more heat is lost from the body. The survival time in 4°C cold water then increases to around 4-5 hours. Enough time for the crew to rescue the casualty.
Wide reflective strips on the arms, chest, legs and 3M reflective plates on the shoulders and hood increase the likelihood of being located in time.
The hood with visor can be rolled into the collar and adjusted to any head size using a Velcro adjuster.
